As a professional engineer, I spent 11 years with the same company after graduating college. This company relied on financial incentives and undisclosed bonus programs to retain its young professionals. After 11 years, I suffered a torn Achilles tendon, which unfortunately led to MRSA and sepsis. Despite multiple hospital visits and surgeries, I continued working rather than taking the necessary time to heal. Following the sepsis diagnosis, I experienced depression and was forced to take time off. Upon my return, I discussed with the company the need for a salary increase and a more equitable performance evaluation process. I was a dedicated employee, well-regarded by both clients and staff. Due to differing opinions regarding my value, I ultimately resigned.

With more than 25 years of experience in corporate and nonprofit executive leadership, Yvette possesses expertise in human resource management, diversity, equity, and inclusion, learning and development, board management, project management, and quality assurance. With many awards from an array of organizations, she has delivered lectures at international forums, business schools and other organizations. A native Spanish speaker, she lived and worked in Honduras and has visited many countries in the Hemisphere. Since leaving her post from Educational Testing Service as Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) and Chief Diversity Officer, she has been consulting on transformational coaching, DEI audits and serves as advisor to senior leadership teams and boards–principally focused on what’s getting in the way of desired results; and resolving thorny problems.
